What Is a Trademark Registration Certificate?

The trademark registration certificate is the official document confirming that a trademark has been registered in your name before TÜRKPATENT. It shows the mark itself, the application and registration numbers, the filing date, the Nice classes covered and the owner’s details. Protection runs for ten years from the filing date and can be renewed indefinitely in ten-year terms.

When Is the Certificate Issued?

The certificate is issued at the end of the application process:

  1. Formal examination of the application
  2. Examination on absolute grounds for refusal
  3. Publication in the Official Trademark Bulletin and the two-month opposition period
  4. No opposition filed, or opposition rejected
  5. Payment of the registration fee and issue of the certificate

What the Certificate Is For

It is not merely paperwork; it is how you prove your right. It is the first document requested in infringement actions, in takedown notices to e-commerce platforms, in assignment and licence agreements, in customs seizure of counterfeits, and in investment or franchise negotiations.
